COVID-19: VEHICLE DISINFECTION
We have started extensive disinfection of vehicles and premises
AVIS Slovakia, the largest car rental company in Slovakia, has launched an extensive vehicle disinfection programme. They are responding to the current developments in relation to the spread of the coronavirus and are taking responsible precautions

As part of its general strategy of continuous service improvement, AVIS Slovakia has introduced new security measures. All cars in the car rental offer have been thoroughly cleaned inside and outside on a regular basis, and this programme is being extended to include full disinfection.
Vehicle disinfection involves cleaning with a safe chlorine solution and antibacterial products all parts that the customer comes into physical contact with when using the vehicle; this includes all handles, steering wheel, gear lever, car radio, interior touch surfaces, as well as sun visors. The traditional programme of comprehensive cleaning with car cosmetics is also maintained.
The cars are thoroughly disinfected before each handover to the customer, i.e. before each rental. Even the disinfection itself is carried out under strict safety measures.
In addition to the above,the car rental company has also taken extensive safety measures to protect the workers themselves, including those who are not in direct contact with customers. Every employee and worker undergoes a body temperature check when they start work, followed by hand sanitization. In addition, employees working in the branches carry out their work wearing sanitary gloves and a face shield. In addition, the premises of the rental company, including the offices, are cleaned and disinfected every morning.
The premises of the rental company and the cars rented from AVIS Slovakia thus meet the highest hygiene criteria for safety and the turnover of vehicles does not pose a threat of further spread of the virus.
The next step in an innovative strategy
AVIS Slovakia has only recently made a public commitment that despite the absence of legislation, they are taking measures to reduce the environmental burden of their fleet on the environment. These measures include the voluntary tightening of emission standards on their fleet. The target for 2020 is to achieve an average emission level of 105 g CO2/km and to reach the prescribed European target of 95 g CO2/km in 2021.
"We believe that this move to put less of a burden on the country's emissions will be perceived by customers as innovative, and our low-emission vehicles will be all the more desirable - and, by their very nature, attractive - to customers," says Vladimír Orth, CEO of AVIS Slovakia.
