Again, there is the annual question of how to arrange transport to holiday destinations that are accessible by car. Shared holidays, multiple families, friends together, it sounds like a recipe for a great break. However, it also means the hassle of moving people and luggage for several hours in more crowded vehicles, a few tired chauffeurs and endless motorway tolls multiplied by the number of vehicles. But it doesn't have to be this way!
There is a proven alternative, which is to travel in multi-seater vehicles, such as in our case a 9-seater vehicle.
There are several reasons to reach for this option. The first is that the holiday starts when you get in the car. Travelling together will give you plenty of experiences and will be enjoyed by children and adults alike. Aside from the collective fun and much more intense communication, it's easier to negotiate the changing itinerary or the need for stops. Last but not least, this way of travelling is safer. Only one person is driving and even if you take turns, the risk of microsleep is much lower. A 'B' licence, which is a normal driving licence, is sufficient to drive a 9-seater vehicle.
Another of the undeniable advantages of a 9-seater is its size. The storage space of a minibus van is much more usable than the trunk of a passenger car, so it can easily accommodate the luggage of the entire crew, and even transporting bulky items such as a folded inflatable boat is not a problem. There is also plenty of additional storage space, e.g. under the passenger seats. If you're the kind of person who likes to stretch your legs or change your seating position while driving, you'll love riding in the 9-seater.
Of course, the difference in transporting a larger group of people in one or more vehicles will be reflected in the cost of fuel consumption and the cost of motorway tolls, which are multiplied by the number of vehicles. In the case of paid parking, you also save on parking fees; in the case of a trip to an island, you save on ferry costs.
But where to get a 9-seater vehicle if you don't have one? You can rent one cheaply.
AVIS is currently offering discounted holiday packages that you can also use to rent such a vehicle. In addition to mileage and assistance services in the event of an accident or breakdown, the rental price also includes a Slovak motorway vignette, statutory insurance (PZP), breakdown insurance or theft insurance. The car seats are equipped with the ISOFIX system for safe attachment of child seats. Find out more about the offer here
In the table below you can see a cost comparison for a 7-day holiday in Split, Croatia, transporting nine people and travelling from Bratislava via Austria. After taking into account motorway tolls and fuel, the cost of hiring a Reanult Trafic is lower compared to travelling in multiple vehicles. When depreciation and wear and tear on the vehicles are taken into account, the result is clearly in favour of renting a vehicle.
7-day version | Number of persons | Slovakia motorway tolls | Slovenia tolls | Austria tolls | Motorway tolls Croatia | Fuel | Rental price | Cost per person |
9-seater car | 9 | X | 30,00 € | 9,40 € | 52,98 € | 103,73 € | 326,40 € | 58,06 € |
3 x passenger car | 9 | 30,00 € | 90,00 € | 28,20 € | 158,94 € | 311,19 € | X | 68,70 € |
More and more people are choosing this transport alternative and enjoying the benefits of travelling together. Now this option is available to everyone, so don't hesitate and book a 9-seater vehicle for yourself.
