AVIS is the largest global car rental company in the world, operating in more than 180 countries. AVIS Slovakia has been offering its services for more than 26 years and is the largest provider of passenger and commercial vehicle rentals up to 3.5t in Slovakia.
MARCH 31, 2023, BRATISLAVA - AVIS Slovakia will radically reduce the CO2 emissions of newly purchased vehicles in 2023. All purchased cars will meet stringent requirements focused on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Despite the company's long-established strategy, it has not been possible to proceed with the announced changes over the past few years due to the inability to replace old vehicles with new ones. Manufacturers have stagnated and have not delivered new vehicles in line with requirements. The key purchasing parameter will be the terms and conditions conditional on vehicle consumption and emission levels. The planned motorisations will be petrol, hybrid and plug in hybrid with a very low proportion of diesel vehicles predominantly suitable for commercial vehicles.
Purchasing will be through reputable car companies with their latest models from VW, Stellantis, Renault, Kia, Volvo, Mercedes benz.
The objective of emission reduction will be compliance between the required conditions for the operation of passenger and commercial vehicles required under the 2019/631 EU rules and standards.
To achieve these targets, AVIS Slovakia Group will purchase:
- Low emission vehicles whose average WLTP emissions will meet the target of 90-110g,
- full hybrid vehicles will meet 110g
- plug in hybrids with a target of 50g.
The distribution of vehicle purchases will be according to a key of 50% low emission, 20%hybrid/full hybrid and 30% plug in hybrid vehicles.
The key target is to achieve a 20% year-on-year reduction in emissions by the end of 2023. In total, the vehicles purchased will account for an expected average emission of 110g/CO2. Total vehicle purchases in 2023 will exceed 2,000.
AVIS Slovakia is a trendsetter in future mobility innovation
AVIS Slovakia believes that despite the current lack of legislation, the country will in the near future adopt the measures to reduce the environmental burden that the EU is pushing for. It sees the voluntary tightening of emission standards for its fleet as a commitment to its customers and the country in which it operates.
"We believe that operating a company like Avis is not only about providing services to customers but also about mutual respect and protecting the environment, which AVIS is interested in participating in," says Juraj Šulhaň, GM of AVIS Slovakia.
